GHK-Cu is a copper-binding peptide composed of three amino acids (glycine–histidine–lysine) that occurs naturally in the human body, particularly in plasma, saliva, and urine. It has been the subject of long-term scientific research, primarily in the fields of tissue regeneration, skin health, and processes associated with aging. When bound to copper, it forms a biologically active complex that plays a role in cellular communication and tissue repair.
Research studies investigate GHK-Cu mainly in relation to skin regeneration, collagen and elastin production, and improvements in skin structure in experimental models. Attention is also given to its effects on wound healing, hair follicle renewal, and overall skin tissue quality. Under laboratory conditions, GHK-Cu is associated with the promotion of angiogenesis—the formation of new blood vessels—as well as with the regulation of inflammatory processes at the cellular level.
In addition to its effects on the skin, GHK-Cu is also being studied in the area of the nervous system and nerve tissue regeneration, where its potential role in cellular protection and the repair of damaged structures is being explored.
